I don't want no scrubs

Ever since I went to the hospital last winter, I've been afraid of people wearing two-piece scrubs. I'm okay with doctors in lab coats, and I don't mind my daycare teachers wearing the top shirt part. But if I see someone in the full outfit, I become very apprehensive. So, I cry when I'm at the doctors' office and a nurse comes in. I whimper when I'm at Dunkin' Donuts across from Duke Hospital and hospital workers run in on breaks. I even became very nervous last night at the grocery store when I saw a guy in scrubs doing his grocery shopping. Stupid hospital experience.

Strawberry fields

Today I went strawberry picking with Mommy and Daddy and some of my other little friends at a nearby farm. It was deliciously fun!

There were so many strawberries!

I helped pick them. I hammed it up for the camera.
Not only did I pick squished moldy ones from the sandy ground, but I also managed to get a few ripe ones from the plants.
At the end, I had my favorite snack - a nice, not-at-all local banana.

18 months!

I am eighteen months old! Today I had my checkup, and if there's one thing I've learned in my short life, it's that I do NOT like people in scrubs. I was fine playing in the waiting room, and waiting for the nurse to come into the exam room, but as soon as she did I started sobbing! It's probably because of my horrible experience at the hospital last winter. I was fine when the doctor came in, though. I weigh 21.8 lbs with a wet diaper (less than my visit 3 months ago, but probably because I was sick between then and now, and I don't eat very much when I'm sick), which is the 5th percentile. I'm 33 inches, in the 75th percentile. I got two shots today - DTaP and HepA. I only cried for a little bit with them, and then I ripped off the bandaid and threw it away, which made me feel better.

Also, the doctor said that my lungs sound great - nice and clear - so in another month or so I can go down to once-a-day breathing treatments for the summer. Yay!

Busy weekend

This past weekend was really busy for me. Saturday was the annual strawberry festival, so of course we had to go pig out on strawberry shortcake and strawberry smoothies. There were lots of dogs there too ("Arf!"), as well as kites and live music. I danced and stared longingly at the kites; I can't wait till I'm big enough to fly one myself!
Mommy and Daddy thought it would be funny to get me tattoos - a dog on my belly and a lizard on my hand. I was not too sure about those. They also got me a balloon sword and a balloon dog, but they soon regretted it because I found it much more fun to let go of them and let them blow away in the breeze than to actually sword fight Daddy. And I don't care what anyone says, that balloon doggy didn't look like a real doggy, so I wouldn't bark at it like I would a flesh-and-blood one.

Sunday we went back to the zoo to see the African animals, since we had to hurry through them last time.
I pet a baby elephant.
I flew a helicopter with Mommy.
I stared confusingly at a rhino.
I hatched out of an egg.
And I played with huge poop bugs (dung beetles).
