Random cuteness

Building with Grandpa

Grandpa was here for a short visit about a week and a half ago. We had a lot of fun playing together.

He helped me pick up my blocks.
He also built Mommy a compost bin. Daddy and I helped.
I mostly helped by guarding the shed doors,
and by fetching tools for him that he may or may not have needed. I love playing in the shed. There are so many cool, dangerous things in there that I'm not supposed to touch!

Expanding vocabulary

This past week I've started saying more words. I now say "mommy" and "daddy," as compared to "mama" and "dada." Yesterday I started saying "phone." Other words I use include "more," "kitty," "ball," and "book."

In addition to words, there are several sounds I like to make too. I can bark like a dog ("arf"), which I do whenever I see one, like when we're at the farmers' market. I can meow like a cat ("mow"), which I do whenever they meow at me. I can beep like a cash register or a car ("bee-beep") when we're going through a checkout lane or whenever a car honks in the neighborhood. And I can neigh like a horse, which I do when I play with my Little People farm that makes animal noises.

Sick again update

Turns out I'm sick with a nasty cold and another double ear infection. My doctor went straight to the extra-strength antibiotics, as well as steroids for my throat, so hopefully it will all be cleared up in a few more days. I'm feeling better already.

My doctor also said, unfortunately, that I'll need to be nebulized twice a day with my controller asthma medicine until at least June, even if I seem to be doing fine. Yuck. :(

Sick again (of course)

I went a whole week and half with only needing my controller asthma medicine, not the reliever too. And last Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, I was fine only beinig nebulized at night!

But...

Yesterday I stayed home from daycare because I had a high fever and was really congested. Today I went back to daycare, but I woke up from my nap gasping for air, and my teachers had to nebulize me (thanks again, Mommy's coworker, for giving us your kids' old nebulizer to leave at daycare!). Let's hope I get over this quickly!

Zoo trip

On Sunday the weather was so beautiful that Mommy and Daddy took me to the zoo. We got there right when it opened, which was nice because there were no crowds since everyone was at church (one of the benefits of being heathens in the Bible Belt).

My favorite animal was the cougar - a big kitty! Probably because "kitty" is a word that I can say.
Daddy tried to feed me to a quail that kept saying "HI" in a really high-pitched squawk. I answered him back a couple times.I also really liked the vents in the desert dome. The air coming up created a nice breeze.

My absolute favorite part, however, came in the gorilla exhibit, which is set up as a research station.

I want to be a researcher when I grow up. You get to turn pages in books and open and close drawers - how fun is that!
One of the gorillas was playing dead (he wasn't actually dead though - he kept opening his eyes to look at everyone).
As we were leaving the gorilla exhibit, I saw a chimp that had gotten out and had to investigate - turns out he was a statue, but he was still fun to pet.
All the fun wore me out!

Fine motor skills=less mess

Tonight at dinner, I ate the entire meal with my spoon! We had cheesy mashed potatoes and peas (Daddy and I mixed ours together, but Mommy didn't because she's weird about not having her food touch). The only time my hand touched the food was to pick up a chunk that had fallen off the spoon and onto my shirt. I can also hold and drink out of a regular cup no problem, thanks to daycare. And when we go out, most of the time I don't even sit in a high chair; I either sit in a booster seat, or, even better, in the booth or on a chair like a big kid. Yay!

Geek night

Every Tuesday, Daddy gets together with his geek friends to play Dungeons and Dragons. I decided to join them this week.
I helped Daddy roll the dice and move his character. I rolled a 6 my first time!
